This paper will address the key engineering issues that need to be considered before interconnecting wind turbines to electric cooperative distribution systems including voltage regulation during operation, voltage flicker during start-up and generator switching (if applicable), operation of substation and line voltage regulators, and protecting the distribution grid and wind turbine during grid disturbances. Compliance with model wind/distributed generation standards and IEEE 1547 will also be included.
