The chosen power converter, usually called the phase-shifted bridge, is valuable because it combines advantages from both conventional PWM and resonant-mode power converters. It is therefore an important topology for investigating the advantages of digital control for DC-DC power converters. The power converter's control equations are nonlinear. The paper explains how the digital technique simplifies the separation of large-signal and small-signal control of the power converter.
