Non-linearized Complete State-Space Model of an LED Driver Based on the LC Resonant Converter
This work presents the study of the DC-DC LC resonant converter applied to LEDs driving. An accurate mathematical modeling was used to design the elements of the LC filter. This technique is based on the analytical analysis of the converter and the use of numerical algorithms to solve the set of equations that describe the converter behavior. In addition, design abacuses are proposed in order to assist the sizing of the converter elements from the choice of the average output current. The proposed model is an alternative to the first harmonic approximation (FHA), which does not lead to accurate results when the load is an LED. The proposed methodology is compared with the FHA and the differences between both methods are highlighted. Simulation results considering a 650-V DC bus and a 100-W LED lamp were carried out. The results were compared with the conventional approach (FHA), attesting the proposed analytical modeling.
