Web service interfaces for intra-cell terminal activity
Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) focuses on creating open virtualized environment in the Radio Access Network. MEC brings cloud capabilities close to the end users. The paper presents an approach to define a MEC Web Service for access to information about activity of a terminal or a group of terminals in a cell. The Web Service functionality is based on the function of the control protocol S1 Application Protocol between RAN and core network. Use cases illustrating the usage of terminal activity information are provided, and some implementation issues are discussed.
