In the last thirty years, a great deal of research has been done for the development of the DO protocol. The purpose of this study was to perform a bibliometric analysis for the characterization of publications on distraction osteogenesis in the maxillofacial region from 1992 to 2021. \nMaterial and Methods: Publication outputs were obtained from the Web of Science database on January 15, 2021. Citespace, Excel, and VOSviewer software were used in analysis and visualizations \nResults: A sum of 1826 publications from 1992 to 2020 were analyzed. A total of 59 countries contributed to the DO literature. The United States had the most publications and the highest H-index. McCarthy JG was the highest co-citation author. Studies were gathered under 12 titles in general. \nConclusion: As a result, in this study, a bibliometric analysis of the articles on distraction osteogenesis in oral and maxillofacial surgery published from 1992 to the present and evaluation of publication trends were made.
