Substantial attention is dedicated to presenting a new possibility of utilizing WDM technologies in building metro/access networks. The DWDM (dense WDM) system outstandingly satisfies the requirements of long-haul networks and the CWDM (coarse WDM) system promises all the key characteristics of metro/access network architectures.
