A method for suppressing steady-state operating overvoltages of the half wave-length UHV AC power transmission line
This paper presents a method for suppressing steady-state operating overvoltages at the middle portion of the half wave-length transmission lines based on an unconventional AC transmission system that the half wave-length transmission line is divided into five segments with the different phase spacing and the different split distance. Then an analysis is made of the steady-state operation of a 1000kV–50Hz–3000km transmission system with uniform and nonuniform transmission lines. Simulation results showed that the steady-state operating overvoltages at the middle portion of the power transmission lines can be efficiently suppressed. This method is very convenient to be applied in countries where the transmission lines sites are very distant from the consumption regions.
