Suharnata","doi":"10.47506/jpri.v7i1.218","DOIUrl":null,"url":null,"abstract":"Introduction : Multipathological conditions with various chronic diseases and polypharmacy can increase the incidence of depression and length of treatment in the elderly. Prolonged length of hospital stay not only has an impact on increasing treatment costs but is also associated with depression. Objective : This study aims to determine the length of stay (LOS) with the level of depression in elderly patients at the Biomedika Hospital Method : This research is a cross-sectional analytic observational study conducted in November 2018-January 2019. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and got 41 respondents who were treated at the Mataram Biomedika Hospital. The length of stay data was obtained through the observation of the patient's medical records using a questionnaire sheet and data on the level of depression in elderly patients using the GDS-15 questionnaire (Geriatric Depression Scale 15-item). The data analysis technique used the Spearman rank correlation test. Results : The results of this study showed that most of the respondents who were treated with moderate length of stay were 21 people (51.2%) and experienced the most depression in the mild depression category as many as 31 people (75.6%). The results of the correlation test between the variable length of stay (LOS) and the level of depression in elderly patients with p = 0.000.
