A New Resonant Driver for Switched Reluctance Motor
The switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive is receiving increasing attentions from various researchers as well as industry as a viable candidate for adjustable speed and servo applications. Combining the unique features of an SRM with simple and efficient power converter that is uses, a superior motor drive system emerges which may be preferable for many applications compared to other AC or DC motor drive systems. although a number of converters have emerged over the years for SRM drives, but every single driver has its own advantages and drawbacks and there has always been a trade-off between gaining some of the advantages and losing some when a new drivers is offered. In this paper we present a new driver for switched reluctance motor. The driver features zero-current switching. It means all the switching operations are done when the phase current crosses the zero level, therefore it reduces the overall power loss in the switching process. Also provides faster rate of rise and fall of current which helps the motor to operate at higher speeds when the resonance phenomenon is employed. Keywords: Switched Reluctance Motor, Resonant Drive Circuit, SRM Drive, Resonant Driver.
