Advanced power systems — Temperature optimization of district heating network
Termis is a tool for hydraulic and thermal modelling which simulate behaving of flow, pressure and temperature in distribution network. Termis supports temperature optimization. The following paper is an overview of the principles and processes that enable us to perform temperature optimization in Termis. In this paper I will show the temperature optimization of district heating network in Tuzla. The purpose of temperature optimization is to minimize the total production and distribution costs, over a certain period of time in a district heating system by means of reducing the average temperature level in the system. This also allows us to meet the demand at peak periods in a more economical way while also securing defined minimum supply temperatures. The temperature will be kept at the lowest possible level in the far end of the network to provide critical customers with a sufficient level of heat supply while still running in the most cost-effective way. District heating is already a very efficient way of supplying heat to buildings, but it can become even more efficient, if the district heating system is guided in the best possible way.
