Procedures for modeling microprocessor-based relay components, such as A/D converters and relay software, are discussed. The effectiveness of the proposed modeling is illustrated by simulating three designs of an overcurrent relay. Experimental results obtained from a frequency relay are compared with those from its computer simulation.
