Projeto PIPAS: Monitoramento de indicadores do desenvolvimento na primeira infância

This article describes the implementation of the PIPAS Project – Early Childhood for Healthy Adults in the state of Ceará, presenting indicators based on the Nurturing Care Framework (WHO/Unicef) and a knowledge translation plan to support decision-making processes. A survey was carried out in 16 municipalities in Ceará in the 2019 multi-vaccination campaign and key actors and strategies for disseminating the results were defined. 7017 children aged 0-59 months were enrolled. Prenatal coverage was 78%; 40% of children aged 0-6 months were exclusively breastfed; 63% were engaged in 4 or more stimulation activities; 65% of children aged 0-3 years did not have books at home and 84% of caregivers adopted harsh disciplines. The knowledge translation plan was implemented using participatory methodologies. The PIPAS Project has shown great potential to support the implementation of early childhood policies at the municipal level.
