In the study, the metaphorical perception of the students has been tried to be evaluated in the frame of two criteria which are “class level and gender”. 29 students from the 5 grade, 39 students from the 6 grade, 70 students from the 7 grade, 87 students from the 8 grade and in total 225 students participated in the study. 124 of these students are female and 101 of them are male students. For the study, “designation of metaphorical perception activity worksheet has been prepared and delivered to the students by the researcher”. In the study, the metaphors that students developed for the notion of “library” have been tabulated in the frame of class level and gender criteria, placed in the specified notional categories, then all developed metaphors have been evaluated in terms of being positive and negative regarding the class level and gender criteria, and the common metaphors used by the male and female students at the same class level and all levels have been designated. Besides, the “because” sentences that students used when explaining their developed metaphors for the “library” notion have also been categorized for the all class levels taking the gender criterion into consideration. All obtained data have been presented respectively with tables in the findings part of the study.
