An Improved Load Frequency Control Strategy for Single & Multi-Area Power System
Controlling the power system scheme is an important notion and Load Frequency Control (LFC) is facilitating an automated solution that is revolutionizing the sector. Motivated by this, an improved control methodology has been developed for LFC in this paper. Notably, this article is comprised of two types of steam turbines which are considered for building this model namely Reheat and Non-Reheat steam turbines where Reheat turbine is utilized in a Single-Area power system, and both Reheat and Non-Reheat turbines are used in the Two-Area power system. Moreover, PID, ANN and Fuzzy compensatory techniques are being proposed and successfully simulated for the single-area power system where the ANN controller resulted in a faster response and better control quality than the PID & Fuzzy-Logic controller. Additionally, a PID & a Fuzzy-Logic controller is developed for the Two-Area power system that also provides satisfactory performance in managing frequency deviation and tie-line power flow.
