A novel wind power converter for increasing output voltage of generator-converter unit
The power of offshore wind power converters is increasing day by day. With the improvement of power levels, the problem of twisted cables in the tower is becoming more and more serious in low-voltage parallel wind power system. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel wind power converter that can increase the outlet voltage of the generator-converter unit. The newtype converter adopts two-level converter cascade connection on the machine side and three-level converter on the grid side to form a medium and low voltage hybrid wind power converter. The medium and low voltage hybrid topology still use low voltage generators, but the increase in the voltage level of the grid-side converter reduces the number of cables required, effectively solving the problem of twisted cables. For the new type of wind power converter, this paper firstly carries out theoretical modeling, and then proposes the control strategy of the hybrid topology. Finally, the effectiveness of the control strategy is verified on the RTLAB simulation platform, which shows that the new type of converter has good performance in both steady state and transient state.
