Symmetrical descriptor form formulae for the H<sup>∞</sup> central controller are derived and are used to prove controller-pole/plant-zero cancellation in H<sup>∞</sup> design. It is also shown that these particular controller poles are not controllable/observable from the auxiliary compensator/free parameter.
