An automatic leveling mechanism consists of a set of four outriggers to level the launching platform at desired angle. An outrigger consists of actuator, electrical motor drive and gear system. Design of outrigger involves calculations of various parameters to meet the desired load and stress during platform leveling as well holding. In the present paper, design and development of An automatic leveling mechanism for weapon system launching platform using induction motor is presented. Induction motor is used in place of DC or BLDC motor to reduce the cost and size of the outrigger while improving ruggedness and ease of operation.
