Knowlegde management for co-creating educational material with high ability students, teachers and parents
Implementing a co-creation process so that high ability students can actively create resources, implies not only using a set of activities, tools and documents (and controlling the different versions of those document), but it also means creating information and knowledge through teacher, student and parent interaction. When the knowledge of a co-creation process is managed, processes and/or activities are developed to create innovative resources that support the needs of students. In this project, knowledge management was used to administer important parts or steps of the process such as communication between all the parties involved, storing and visualizing of the knowledge gained and managing the activities and contributions so that they could be shared in the future. We propose a way to apply knowledge management to educational material co-creating processes, which will manage the contributions made and activities generated during the process. We present a two-perspectives approach for managing the participants' contributions within the process and its activities. The first is a theoretical model demonstrating how to capture and store the knowledge gained (i.e. contributions and activities) from the co-creation process itself for future use, and the second is a technological perspective which uses information technologies to support the educational material co-creating process. The knowledge management approach seeks to generate a way to develop a precise and efficient co-creation process, by capturing and storing knowledge in a systematic and ordered way.
