A brief literature review was conducted on the development, pathogenesis of hypercapnia, and adequacy of patient monitoring during IV analgosedation with preserved spontaneous respiration. Through the analysis of literature on this topic, we have found that the adequacy of monitoring is insufficiently studied, and the correlation between saturation and carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in arterial blood is not always proportional in patients undergoing deep procedural sedation with preserved spontaneous respiration (PSR).
