Avaliação do perfil lipídico dos acadêmicos de uma instituição privada de ensino superior do município de Barreiras-BA
Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death in Brazil and worldwide, accounting for about 30% of all deaths. Recent studies addressing the theme have demonstrated that mainly university students have several predisposing factors to the development of these diseases. The objective of this study is to evaluate the lipid profile of academics from a higher education institution in the municipality of Barreiras-BA. This is a descriptive cross-sectional quantitative research with young people and adults of both sexes. The study included 97 students who performed lipid profile tests between 2017 and 2018. Statistical analyzes were performed using GraphPad Prism software. Only 4% of the students presented changes in CT, 12% lower and higher levels respectively of HDL and LDL, and 4% increase in serum triglyceride levels. With the analysis of the results of the questionnaire it was possible to associate these values with the increase of the consumption of fried foods and sweets in the food menu, sedentarism and overweight. Socio-e-ducational measures related to changes in eating habits and physical activity should be promoted in the academic world so that this number of students with lipidogram changes are even lower.
