Employment is known to be a critical component of personal identity and personal growth, disability adjustment, social integration, and life satisfaction, in addition to economic self-sufficiency. In its broadest sense, work is ‘an activity involving mental or physical effort in order to achieve a result’. People with disabilities experience a significantly higher than average level of unemployment.
