Task analysis is applied to school social work in Hong Kong to examine, first, how school social workers conceptualise the functions and ideologies of their work. Secondly, it argues how they can better meet the needs of the students and the community. Research results indicate an inclination for local practice to move towards a clinical model with less emphasis on a systems change approach.
