It is widely used in industries such as petrochemical, electricity distribution, and water treatment. The protocol lacks built-in security features, making it an attractive target for attackers. Securing Modbus-based networks requires tools for packet logging, analysis, and realtime monitoring. A novel solution is described, which is fully compatible with the standard Modbus variants (TCP, RTU) and supports most deployment scenarios.
