Advanced Database Design and Modern Web Technologies Used in Nutrition Software Design
The aim of this paper is to point out the need for special skills indispensable for mobile and web applications, as these are formed today, as well as highlight some of the available solutions. These kind of applications have, almost always, distributed architectures with GUIs, databases and business logic living in different processing units. As a consequence of these architectures, the traffic of data/instructions over the network can cause less attractive software products. Moreover, such architectures usually communicate instructions to the GUI processor (usually a browser) with tagged text (usually HTML) that offers a limited set of GUI building (dialog) items. Fortunately, the available technology is more mature relative to the technology of the previous decade and can be used to overcome the mentioned problems (limited GUI items and increased network traffic for communicating data and instructions). Our approach is based on an interesting domain of software technology, the nutrition software design.
