Use of smartphone for alimentary liquids qualitative analysis
The process of color recognition plays a central role in extracting information from the surrounding environment. In this work, we present a simple solution to use the smartphone as colorimetric sensor for colorimetric quality analysis of daily life liquids. The colorimeter contains a 3-D printed attachment combined with an optical plastic fiber, fixed to the smartphone. The fixed optical fiber allows to create an optical circuit between the smartphone’s flashlight and the camera, which are used to analyze the sample under test. To demonstrate that the implemented solution can be applied in quality control, colorimetric studies were carried out with coffee powder, red fruits juices, and wine samples.
