Social Work in Colombia is linked to industrialization, between the 30s and 50s, responding to the increasing misery belts of the urban centers, executing the palliative welfare policies programs, in response to expressions of the social issue. The profession went through different periods, such as assistentialism, reconceptualization, modernization and globalization. The first two were characterized by seeking —through collective reflection— the criticism of the programs and performances of the profession, to face the logic of the market, assuming and confronting the social issue. The other two have continued to favor the qualification of training, introducing methods, methodology and new theoretical perspectives. As well as the Research, within the action as a profession. For this, the study was framed within the postulates of the qualitative methodology, using the analogical hermeneutics for the interpretation and understanding of documents, in conjunction with the method of discourse analysis.
