Risk management framework for smart shippingservices: a case study in e-piloting
Smart shipping services are an essential basis in the development of new autonomous technologies and the design of new Maritime Surface Ships (MASS). These services will be managed by maritime authorities and other administrative stakeholders. Therefore, the understanding of how the management of risks and safety in the context of MASS is considered by maritime administrators is essential to support the initial design phase of these new services, technologies and MASS concepts. This study presents a framework for assessing the expected benefits and challenges in the management of risks of MASS from an administrative perspective. The framework is applied to analyze the context of the service for remote piloting operations within the S4V program.
