A study of an antenna selection scheme for space-time turbo codes
Space-time turbo code is an effective method for enhancing link capacity and maximizing link-budget through a judicious balance between coding gain obtained via turbo codes and diversity gain obtained with multiple antenna transmission. A study of an antenna selection scheme for space-time turbo code is presented in this paper. In the proposed method, the systematic hits and the punctured parity bits are sent from the selected antennas while transmission from the antenna experiencing the poorest channel conditions is effectively suspended. Simulation results show that the proposed method can reduce average transmission power by 3.8 dB compared to the conventional antenna selection method with 2 antennas.
