The subject addressed in this paper is the state forecast functionality as a part of the advanced distribution network voltage-control algorithm. The algorithm itself consists of different parts, namely the state estimation, state forecast and voltage control. The main purpose of the algorithm is the estimation of the network state and its short-term forecast, which serves as a basis for network voltage control and service provision. In order to provide services, the distribution network state has to be known at the present time and also in the near future, in order to foresee the permissible duration of the service. Allowable voltage reduction relies on the normal network state (without the running CVR functionality). In order to estimate the voltage “reserve”, the state of the network must be known in advance.
