Toxic osteomyelitis of the jaws. Presentation of clinical cases at 5 years postoperative
Toxic osteomyelitis of the jaws develops from the consumption of narcotic preparations, which contain ephedrine, red phosphorus, iodine compounds and other chemicals, called Perventine (vint). The statistical study based on the data of the Institute of Emergency Medicine archive and current literature sources, indicates a tendency to increase in the last 15 years the frequency of toxic osteomyelitis of the jaws in drug users. The late addressing of patients, determined by the psycho–emotional and social aspects, creates difficulties in their treatment and in their subsequent rehabilitation. From the same aspects, it is difficult to monitor in time the results of the treatment, which often requires repeated interventions at the level of soft tissues, bone, teeth for morpho– functional rehabilitation. For an assessment of the condition of patients with toxic osteomyelitis of the jaws, we will present 5 clinical cases at 5 years postoperatively.
