One of the most important roles of training institutions in sport sciences is to influence the knowledge and skills of sport professionals, build their required competences to enter the sport labor market, furthermore to assist in employment and carrier development aspects. Within the ESSA-Sport project funded by the European Commission under Erasmus+ and coordinated by the European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) 18 national partners (including Hungary) and 5 European networks participate in the first European employer skills survey. The research is based on statistical data collection and a questionnaire composed of five sections researching the required skills of sport professionals working (as paid staff or volunteers) in different sport organizations, differentiating the sport occupations. The survey examines the main characteristics of governmental, nongovernmental for-profit and not-for-profit organizations acting in the sport sector, the demand of the sport labor market, and the expectations towards employees with different sport-specific qualifications.
