A dielectric rod E.M. model for well-logging applications
The propagation of electromagnetic fields in borehole in presence of perturbations is analyzed by means of coupled mode theory based on the guided modes of a circular dielectric guide. From the evaluation of average attenuation and average propagation time per unit length it is possible in principle to detect the presence of an oil field.
