A novel Yin-Yang fractal antenna for multiband applications in communication
A novel Yin-Yang fractal antenna is presented. The antenna consists of conducting circular patch that has two small circles cut and four arc slots. The fractal technique is implemented on the patch antenna to achieve multiband and wide bandwidth. The Yin-Yang fractal antenna was designed using Rogers 5880 LZ substrate with dimensions of 54 mm × 30 mm × 1.27 mm and full ground plane. This antenna resonating at 4.15 GHz, 5.89 GHz, 7.01 GHz, 7.47 GHz, 9.49 GHz, 10.27 GHz and 11.52 GHz with a wide bandwidth between 10 GHz and 10.4 GHz. A maximum gain of 8.44 dB occurred at 7.47 GHz. Yin-Yang antenna is simulated by HFSS18. Simulated and measured S11 and VSWR are presented in addition to maximum gain and radiation pattern.
