The ultimate objective of choosing this setup is to be able to handle two-class load patterns (uniform and periodic hotspot traffic) more easily. The addition of periodic hotspot traffic to uniform-type traffic causes internal ‘tree saturation’, which can significantly increase the packet latency and even cause congestion.
