Compared with the electric vehicles, the extended range electric vehicles increase the Range Extender (RE) that was constituted by internal combustion engine, generator and rectifier. The extended range electric vehicles model was established in the CRUISE, and matched the powertrain parameters. The power consumption simulation was carried in the Chinese typical cycle run. The simulation used two different energy management strategies. The results show that the powertrain matching parameters are relatively rational. In the CD-CS energy management strategy, when RE adopts (ON-OFF) control model. The vehicle fuel consumption and electrical consumption were less than the power following control methods.
