Analysis of the Influence of Wave Spectral Structure on the Sonic Boom Loudness of the NASA X-59 Low Boom Demonstrator
Achieving an acceptable level of sonic boom over inhabited land is one of the main problems in the development of a new generation supersonic civil aircraft. In connection with the currently unsolved problem of selecting the metric that most adequately describes the impact of a sonic boom on people, animals, buildings and structures, it is relevant to analyze the influence of the overpressure distribution in the aircraft near field on the shape of the sonic boom signature on the ground. It is also of interest to determine the influence of signature shape on the ground on the sonic boom loudness in various metrics. In the present paper, the shape of the sonic boom wave for the NASA X-59 QueSST aerodynamic configuration considered within the framework of SBPW (Sonic Boom Prediction Workshop) was studied. The influence of the aerodynamic layout elements on the pressure distribution in the near field and the wave transformation during propagation to the ground are shown, a spectral analysis of the sonic boom signature on the ground is performed.
