Products that comply with the consensus standard requirements are entitled to bear a certification mark that demonstrates their suitability for use in potable water systems. Drinking water product standards developed by NSF reference NSF/ANSI/CAN 600: <i>Health Effects Evaluation and Criteria for Chemicals in Drinking Water</i> for the toxicological criteria to evaluate chemical leachates derived from material extraction testing. The scope of the journal spans from molecular and cellular mechanisms of action to the consideration of mechanistic evidence in establishing regulatory policy. Secondly, the journal addresses aspects of the development, validation, and application of new and existing laboratory methods, techniques, and equipment.
