Charging for congestion at tourist attractions

Abstract

Congestion is commonplace at many tourist attractions. It arises because visitors usually ignore or fail to take account of interactions between themselves when undertaking a trip. Using the principles of the standard congestion model of economic theory, the determination of the appropriate admission charge to allow for congestion is examined.
