Abstract
Many years of research were necessary to accept the concept of immediate post-extraction implant placement. This approach combines post-extraction cicatrization with the osteointegration phase of the implants and presents a lot of physiological and psychological advantages. The limits of immediate post-extraction implantation can be pushed back today using PRF®, (platelet rich fibrin). PRF® is presented as a new technique able to improve osseous and mucous periimplant healing and regeneration. The results of the clinical studies are very encouraging. But more analytic studies are still necessary to deepen the biological mechanisms of PRF® and to extend its field of application. The final adoption of the Bioethic Law, which envisages an exemption authorizing the handling of blood cells and tissues for dentist’s private practice, opens the way for the official recognition of the PRF® technique by the French Ministry of Health.
