Tratamiento sustitutivo renal en el anciano

Abstract

Older patients set up a particular group with demographic and clinical features on their own, and we must consider the economic and ethical aspects in relation to their treatment. Dialysis should therefore not be denied to older patients if there is hope for a prolonged and enjoyable span of life. However, dialysis should not be used merely to prolong the dying process. The question that we make ourselves is where is the furthest point we are able to reach in order to council medical, ethical, homely and socioeconomic conditions. We will try to give the response in this review.
