Clinical cases of lesions of the cornea by the disease Thygeson

Abstract

In 1950, Thygeson P. first described a series of cases of superficial point keratitis, which is a chronic, recurrent disease and is characterized by small, oval sub-and intraepithelial whitish-gray corneal opacities. The disease is usually bilateral, but can be asymmetric. Opacities tend to be centrally located, which causes a decrease in visual acuity. The disease affects both sexes, but a higher incidence was found in women. Despite multiple studies, the etiology of the disease has not been determined.
