Chronology, Terminology and Periodization of the Evolution of the Light Infantry of the Russian Empire

Abstract

Автор исследует и анализирует процесс эволюции русской легкой пехоты со времени ее создания и до момента исчезновения различий между видами пехоты. На основе проведенного анализа впервые предлагается ввести периодизацию процесса этой эволюции. Привлекая ряд известных и вновь выявленных источников, автор прослеживает непрерывную последовательность и преемственность отечественных документов по обучению егерей и стрелков. The author explores and analyzes the process of evolution of the Russian light infantry from the time of its creation until the obliteration of the distinction between types of infantry. Based on the analysis, it is proposed for the first time to introduce a periodization of the process of this evolution. Drawing on a number of well-known and newly identified sources, the author traces the continuous sequence and continuity of domestic documents on the training of rangers and shooters.
