Abstract

During ultrasonic machining the continuous use of the same abrasive particles results in the decrease of their grain size and in a lower machining rate. Wear of the tool also takes place. Tool wear is controlled by such factors as type of abrasive, grit size, tool material, static load, cutting time and cross sectional area of the tool used. Their influence on tool wear is discussed.
