Abstract
Mergers and acquisitions have become a regular activity in health care. Ensuring executive continuity is a prime issue especially given the number of proposed transactions that do not reach completion. For those transactions that are successful, retention arrangements are implemented to promote leadership stability by mitigating both organizational and personal risk.
