Abstract

Compacts of thorium arsenide, Th3As4, and its solid solutions with iron, cobalt, nickel, calcium and barium sulphides, uranium arsenide, and thorium antimonide have been prepared by hot pressing. A thorium arsenide-antimonide solid solution is shown to have thermoelectric properties at 700°C that suggest this system should be studied further as a potential n-type thermoelectric generator material.
