Training Resilient Medical Teams

Abstract

This paper presents the findings from a data collection at a medical education simulator facility. Five teams of students consisting of both nurses and doctors in training participated in a study where an instrument for assessing shared understanding was tested in a medical training environment. Results indicate that providing measures of sharedness in teams provides insights for both students and instructors regarding team processes and goal priorities. The results are discussed from the resilience and team cognition perspectives.
