Abstract
Introduction
Aortic fistulae can occur following open or endovascular aneurysm repair. Formation of a fistula between the abdominal aorta and the thoracic duct is extremely rare. We report the first case of aorto-lymphatic fistula secondary to open repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and its successful endovascular treatment.
Report
A 61 year old male patient underwent open repair of a juxtarenal AAA. Post operatively an aorto-lymphatic fistula was incidentally found. This was treated by endovascular means with platinum coils.
Discussion
No other instances have been described in the literature. Endovascular treatment was not only effective but also safe.
