Abstract

Despite the fact that the United States took an opposite stand on the question of independence of Bangladesh, the relationship started developing since the US recognition to Bangladesh in 1972. Apart from few exceptions, most of the governments of Bangladesh under different political regimes intended to remain in good terms with the US.
