Abstract. The purpose of this application, under Article 55.3.1 of the Code, is to remove the homonymy of Margaritidae Blainville, 1824 (type genus Margarita Leach, 1814) (Mollusca: Bivalvia) with Margaritidae Thiele, 1924 (type genus Margarites Gray, 1847) (Mollusca: Gastropoda) by emending the latter to Margaritesidae. These two homonymous family-group names are based on similar but not identical type-genus names and both are in current use.
