Abstract

Heat transfer measurements have been made on a type of rough surface that could be obtained by pressurizing thin stainless-steel cans onto fuel pellets shaped like truncated cones. The results indicate that with the coolant flow in a particular direction the surface has a performance close to that of a ribbed surface having the same friction factor.
